2026 National Speciality — Bouvier Health Foundation Speaker

The Bouvier Health Foundation Health Talk at National Speciality at Purina Farms will be held on Tuesday October 13, at 3:30pm. (Just before the welcome dinner.) watch here for further details.

Our speaker this year will be Liz Hansen from the University of Missouri Veterinary School of Medicine Canine Genetic Lab.  Liz has shown and bred Standard Schnauzers for over 49 years and Berger Picard’s for the last 15 years.  In 2024 she was chosen as the AKC Working Group Breeder of the Year.

 Liz will speak about genetic research and how it can be used in canine breeding programs. As a handler and a breeder, she has had first hand knowledge of the parameters of using genetic testing in canine breeding programs.  Liz will address the process of  finding genetic disease markers and how participation in genetic research can help the breed as well as individual breeders. She will also update us on the ongoing Bouvier glaucoma research project and will discuss what the future looks like for finding answers to genetic diseases.  Liz spoke at our 2024 National Speciality to rave reviews.  We look forward to having her speak again.
