Ignorance and or fear have acted as a curtain when dealing with the health issues that face our breed. Until almost five years ago we believed that hip and elbow dysplasia were the Bouviers prime afflictions. Even when we discovered the simplicity of our error, many refused to be convinced. Unfortunately, the evidence is overwhelming. SAS and glaucoma have frequently affected our beloved animals. Hypothyroidism appears in Bouviers, not to mention countless other problems which are also present.
Modern veterinary science with the aide of more sophisticated equipment is only now beginning to research these problems. If all of us, breeders, owners & veterinarians, are willing to face the health issues, together we will slowly be able to see each other as helpmates not adversaries.

The Bouvier Health Foundation was created with two purposes in mind. First, BHF is to distribute information that would benefit Bouvier breeders and owners alike. Secondly, we must raise the money to fund research projects. BHF hopes you will support our fundraising activities and find gifts and items here that please you throughout the year.
